HBCUs and Black Charter School Leadership in EdPost

HBCUs have produced some fantastic leaders, including AUA’s founder and Executive
Director, Ms. Alaina Chipma-Leeks. Take a look at the article she recently pinned for
EdPost, in which she talks about the impact of HBCUs on building black charter school
leadership! Link in bio.

AUA on FOX5ATL’s ‘Good Day Atlanta’

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. – Atlanta Unbound Academy is located in historic College Park. The inaugural school year began in 2020, so students began virtually. School leaders made sure students were well-equipped for daily instruction.

What’s unique about the school is that it was founded by a group of HBCU graduates. Dr. Alaina Chipman-Leeks is a graduate of Spelman College. She says the idea of the school came from her upbringing.

Uniform Policy Update

Uniforms will not be mandatory. We will have one AUA Professional Day per week where students will be encouraged to wear dress/professional wear.
